- Put your object in the right place so that you can take or capture it from different angles.
- Shoot as possible as loops from different angles and make sure that you cover the top of the object.
- You have to take 30-40 total sequential photos.
- To distinguish bottom and make it understandable to the software add some sticky motes around your object.
- Maintain consistent lighting.
- Try to avoid overexposed or underexposed photos, plain, reflective, transparent surfaces, and objects.

Step 2: Upload your images to Autodesk 123D Catch
There is a free tool available which will help you to create your 3D model from the pictures you took called as Autodesk 123D Catch.
It is able to identify common features from your photographs automatically. It converts your photographs into a single 3D design. The created model will upload and saved in Autodesk’s cloud. For better understanding see the following figures.
Step 3: Review as well as a clean up3D model.
In this step, you have to check your model clean up and fix errors. If some extra elements get captured in the picture you can trim them with the help of ‘lasso’ and ‘heal’ tools. These tools will help you to select and remove unwanted areas, fill any holes in your model and fix them. For more see the following images.
Step 4: Edit your 3D Model and make it as per your wish showing your creative skills.

If you are happy with your 3D model just go to the top left of the window click on 123 Catch drop-down menu and select ‘Export STL’.
‘Export STL’ will generate your 3D model file into a specified format and upload it to 3D Print Lab.
Here you are able to select material as well as the size of your model. Price of your model will be automatically generated according to material and size you selected.
