CMD is known as command prompt this is line interpreter application which is available in all most all windows operating systems.

This is used for executing entered commands. Most of those commands are used to automate tasks via scripts and batch files, perform advanced administrative functions and trouble shoot and solve certain kinds of window issues.

The command prompt is officially called windows command processor but is also sometimes called the command shell or CMD prompt or even referred to by its filename CMD.exe.

The first thing to try, to check the internet connection is Ping. Ping is a Windows program that comes preinstalled with the operating system. It is a text based program and therefore needs text based commands to execute. It is the software used to test latency on your connection. For those who do not know, latency is the time it takes to establish a connection between your computer and the web server that hosts the website you requested.

The first thing to do is open the Start menu and look for the command prompt. You can do this by typing “CMD” in the search box and pressing enter. Once you have the command prompt open, you can use Ping to test your connection. Type the command ping google.com.
